Monday Technique on Splitcoast

This weeks technique on Splitcoast is foil embossing. So you just get out that roll of silverfoil and if you have a cuttlebug or bigshot you run one of the patterned folders through to get this lovely effect. At the last show I even saw them running the folders through a pasta machine to get the same result!!! Apart from the silverfoil I have used the Metallic silver cardstock and matted each of the panels on black cardstock. The flowers were stamped (from Eastern Blooms) and embossed with Black embossing powder and cut out. The ribbon is Old Olive;. You should pop over to Splitcoast by clicking on the link and have a look at all the wonderful ideas they have on this site.

This is the 3D version of Organic Grace. I thought I would do a bunch of flowers with the stamp set as it is a very versatile set. I stamped some of the images with Black Stazon on Watercolour Paper and then coloured it in with the Aquapainters with lots and lots of different colours and mixtures of colours. The flowers for example have summer sun, more mustard and apricot appeal mixed in together. I cut out one each of the leaves, flowers and statice type flowers and put them on dimensionals to give that 3D effect. I also cut out the dragon fly which was coloured with pretty in pink and lovely lilac.

Organic Grace

Spring is in the air so it is only natural to start thinking about the garden and flowers so I pulled out this little set which is from the Hostess Gift area and is a level 1 Stamp prize. So now is the time to think about having a workshop and winning one of the lovely sets for getting sales of just $300 and you will also be eligible for free items from the catalogue as well.
I love the little dragon flies in this set and so I used the Rock n Roll method to give them a multil colour look as when you see them flying around they seem to change colour.

Monday Technique Card 2

I thought I would have another go at Monday's technique I quite like the little buttons made by punching 5 circles the same size and sticking them together and then punching holes to make it look like a button. To get the thread to put through the buttons I just cut some ribbon very thinly and then pushed it through the holes and tied a knot.
If you didn't put the little cupcakes (with lots of glitter on them) on the card you could use this as a male card, as the Tangerine Tango and Old Olive are a lovely combination for male or female.

Splitcoast New Technique Monday

Every Monday on Splitcoast they have a new technique to try out. This Monday it was make your own button. All you need is some Cardstock or in this card I punched out (with the 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch circle punch) Bella Rose DSP and layered it with 5 layers of cardstock. Some of the examples in the gallery are great so have a look around at Splitcoast they have some wonderful ideas.

Third and final version

I still wasn't entirely happy with my card so I pulled it all apart and added some more layers and now I am happier with the card, it just looked a bit flat before. Everyone who knows me knows that I can't help myself the more layers the better

Another Version

I wasn't entirely happy with the first version so I had another go. Instead of the Square Scallop Punch I used the Oval Scallop Punch and added a ribbon. For the words I used the Whisper White. Otherwise everything else is the same. I think I like this version a bit better..

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Occasional Greetings
Paper: Old Olive, Whisper White and Rose Red, Walk in the Park DSP
Ink: Whisper White
Accessories: Old Olive Marker, Pearls from the Pretties Kit, Oval Scallop Punch, Ribbon

Pocket Silhouettes

This is just a quick card that could be used for any occasion, I love the combination of Rose Red and Old Olive and thought I would put them together on this card.

Circle Circus and Party Hearty

I have been having fun with these two stamp sets(well its actually three if you count the Happy birthday Stamp) and I quite like the combination. It would make a good male card, but you could quite easily stamp them in pinks, reds etc for a female version. I also used just the Happy Birthday part of the Birthday Wish stamp in the new Mini Catalogue. The silver brad from the new Mini Catalogue (I know it actually looks brown and there is a brown brad in the set - you can blame my daughter for the poor photography this time) is teamed with chocolate chip card punched with the small oval punch and folded over, with the ribbon threaded through. Looking at it now it is not 100% straight and I can't blame the photographer for that, but it is easily fixed.

Another Circle Circus

Well I had another try before my class with the Circle Circus set as I wasn't entirely happy with the outcome of my previous efforts. This card I used Chocolate Chip and Pacific Point combined. When I made the card I felt it still needed something extra so I finally got to use my cropodile and my jumbo eyelet teamed with some choc chip ribbon to hang the happy birthday stamped from the Party Hearty set. The brown brads I used are from the new mini and just lifted the striped Pacific Point ribbon. All in all I was much happier with this card.

Whilst I was in my room making this card my helper was out in the family room where I have my classes wreaking havoc. Most of the cards are on the floor but Franklin doesn't look too worried at all. I have a few cats that like to have an afternoon nap on my star velvet cloth!!!!

Circle Circus

I have had this set sitting there for a while so I thought I would dust it off (in my house there is always plenty of dust I don't think I am the world's best housekeeper - but then there are better things to do in life, such as making cards isn't there).I have tried to use colours lately that I wouldn't normally use, so I have been through my pink phase and now I am trying Elegant Eggplant, Mellow Moss and Pale Plum together.

In this card after I stamped the images the card still looked a bit pale so I added the pink brads from the rich regal set, it does actually look a bit darker in real life. In the first card there were only three layers which is very good for me but I found this one needed an extra layer of Pale Plum behind the Elegant Eggplant layer.

Christmas Cards

Just a quick look at the last card we are doing in our card class this week. A lovely Christmas card using the Christmas Cheer Stamp. Still a few complaints on tying ribbons but the new ribbon from Stampin Up with the white edging goes so well with lots of cards especially the Christmas Cards. (So my ladies will just have to keep practising those bows - practice makes perfect they say). We had a little play with the Aquapainters as well for this card - we have had lots of different colour reindeers and some very sun tanned Father Christmas faces!!!

September Classes

Here is a photo of one of the cards we made in our class. We have been having lots of fun and making lots of mess in the process. I had heaps of rubber gloves for everyone to wear. All different sizes and colours as you can see on the left.
I think the smart people chose to wear the rubber gloves whilst some others (those are my fingers in the photo on the right chose not too - oops). It didn't matter we finished up with some lovely cards - Its not too late to learn this polished stone technique. The remaining card times are on the right side of the blog.

Thoughts and Prayers

Whilst I had this stamp set out doing the Mojo Monday challenge I thought I would have a little play with the stamp on the other side (the stamps in this set are double mounted).

I just had to add a little bling from the Pretties kit and some Crystal Effects on the flowers.

Stamp Set: Thoughts and Prayers

Ink: Regal Rose Old Olive

Card: Pretty in Pink Regal Rose Whisper White

DSP: Walk in the Park (from the new mini catalogue)

Accessories: Pearls, Crystal Effects, Ribbon

Mojo Monday

This is this weeks Mojo Monday and with having just had Father's Day here I thought I would continue on with the masculine theme for this card. The first card is lovely and sparkly but the camera just doesn't want to pick up all that sparkle (can I blame the camera again!!!). Every photographer (???) in the house thought they could get a better picture but this is the best of a bad bunch I think. Even Stampin Up's lovely metallic card isn't showing up all that well - I think if I give enough hints (whinges) I might get a new camera. So I had to have another try still with metallic papers but without the bling (I feel there is something missing without the bling).

Another technique from Splitcoast

This weeks technique on Splitcoast is called Masked Frame. I'm not 100% happy with the card I made but it is an interesting technique to try. You basically created a frame in the middle which you lightly tape to the card and stamp around the image. I chose a Christmas Theme and thought I would use the holly stamp for my image stamped around the frame.

Stamps: Season of Joy, Christmas Classics

Card: Old Olive, Riding Hood Red and Whisper White

Ink: Old Olive, Riding Hood Red

Accessories: Real Red Marker and Ribbon

Septembers Classes

We are going to be doing Polished Stone technique which is a lovely technique that gives a really unique background for your cards. No two cards turn out the same which is the great thing about this technique. There are a few different cards to choose from in a range of different colours, the one above is a pretty pink and gold version. If you are interested in learning this technique check out the class times on the side bar and contact me.

Mojo Monday

This is the latest Mojo Monday and my version is below - I am not 100% happy with this one but you have to try different things and so I thought I would try some silver embossing on silver. As it is Fathers Day on Sunday this card was meant to be a more masculine one but it might be a bit to shiny and bright for a man!!!
