Magic Snowflake technique

This is another technique from Splitcoast It is similar to the polished stone technique we did in class a couple of months ago so all you ladies that bought your reinkers and glossy cardstock dust it off and try out this technique (dont forget the rubber gloves). The only difference with this technique is that you stamp an image with versamark first, apply some clear embossing powder and heat it. Then you apply your reinkers on a cotton ball with some rubbing alcohol ( I saw on someone's blog that this is the only time you should mix alcohol and cardmaking together - I always thought a little glass of bubbly would help the creativity and get into the feeling of Christmas spirit). At this stage you are probably thinking you have made a mistake as all the image has disappeared but this is why they call it magic, you just reheat it with your heat gun and out pops the image again.
Stamps:  Snow Swirled
Card: Chocolate Chip Very Vanilla White Glossy card
DSP: Holiday Treasures
Accessories: Choc Chip and Always Artichoke reinkers Rhinestone Brads (you have to have some bling on a card) Ribbon SU (retired)

Christmas Colour No 4

Well daughter no 3 is a dark blue person so Night of Navy was the starting point for this card. Following one of the Try a New Technique on Splitcoast a few weeks ago using foil embossing out came the kitchen foil for the background (with my cuttlebug - but SU up are finally going to introduce the Big Shot next April so we can all look forward to lots of fun with that). The snowmen were stamped from the Holiday Lineup set on SU metallic silver card stock with versamark and embossed with black embossing powder.  After that they were coloured in with my aquapainters. Using the Snow Swirled set I embossed the snowflakes with sivler embossing powder and then the greeting is embossed with black embossing powder.

So lots of embossing on this card - the blue and silver are a great combination together (pity about the photography, unfortunately I couldn't seem to get rid of the glare from the foil).

Mojo Monday Time Again

Its Mojo Monday time and another different layout for us to try. I thought as we are now into October and lots of my ladies are turning their thoughts to Christmas Cards (I don't want to know how many weeks are left until Christmas - whatever it is it won't be enough)
Lots of different things used in this card. I started off with Real Red Card Stock and stamped my Father Christmas from the Holly Jolly Christmas set. To make him stand out more I versamarked his coat and put a layer of clear embossing powder on it which looks great in real life but hasn't shown up one little bit in the photograph - I took several photos and the ones where it did show up made it look all patchy (lol, the bad photographer at work). The snow flakes are stamped from the Snow Swirled set in Real Red and Old Olive.
Behind that I cut one long strip of Old Olive cardstock punched it with the Scallop Punch and then ran it through the Crimper, I then eased it around the circle - it was just long enough.
Below that is a strip of real red run through the crimper.
Under that is Ski Slope DSP matted on real red card stock above and below the rectangles are three gold brads (they could be any colour the colour seems to be washed out in the photo)
The last layer is a piece of DSP paper from the Haiku set. I finished it off with Merry Christmas from the Best Yet set (level 1 Hostess) stamped with Real Red on Whisper white and punched with the oval punch and matted on real red punched with the scallop oval punch.

Christmas In July

Just a few more cards for Christmas in July, a couple using the new Tree Trimmings set. With the first two cards I embossed with gold embossing powder onto coloured cardstock and them applied crystal effects to give it that shiny baubly effect. The tree around the edge were from the Lovely as a Tree set. The Merry Christmas has been punched out with the new Scallop Oval punch.

This card used the new Ski Slope Design Series Paper in the new mini starting on August 1st

This third card was done with the Snow Swirled Stamp Set and the new Riding Hood Red striped ribbon.
